The Roofs
Designed by MVRDV, The Roofs is visible from afar and forms an...
Situated in the heart of Cachagua, Chile, stands a distinctive project that pays homage to the legacy of the renowned architect Jorge Elton Alamos. This residential home, located on the same property as the 1960s house designed by Jorge Elton Alamos, embraces both traditional and modern design.
The new building mirrors the compact, vessel-like structures of the original homes, while the MOSO® X-treme® Cladding used on the facade creates a striking, contemporary look.
The neighbourhood itself, with its meandering gravel paths and open, transparent green fences, evokes a timeless atmosphere. The thatched roofs and low structures blend seamlessly with the natural landscape, maintaining the vision that Elton had for this area decades ago.
MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking used on the deck, patio, and around the pool complements the cladding, unifying the design. Its durability and resistance to weathering ensure the decking will stand the test of time, much like the original homes in this area.
Both MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking and Cladding are made from rapidly renewable Moso bamboo, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional hardwood building materials.
The product’s natural beauty enhances the aesthetic of this modern yet nostalgic home, while its eco-friendly properties align with today’s need for sustainable materials.
