Centro Sociosanitario Adolfo Diaz Ambrona

The extension of the Centro Sociosanitario Adolfo Díaz Ambrona is a care project in which architecture and well-being are closely intertwined. It is a care facility, a place where people with mental health issues and older people with age-related conditions reside. The design places a strong emphasis on recognisability, freedom and sensory experience, with a carefully considered balance between sun and shade.

Bamboo N-durance Savanna beams in various lengths were used for this project. The building’s distinctive louvre structure filters daylight and creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, whilst simultaneously ensuring natural ventilation and privacy. The warm caramel colour contributes to an inviting appearance. A special technique of flattening and compressing increases the hardness and stability of the bamboo, ensuring that the material achieves the highest possible durability class according to European standards.
