La Défense Grand Arche train station

This flagship project sets a new benchmark for sustainable material use in public transport infrastructure. Seeking a warmer and more welcoming atmosphere than the typically mineral aesthetic of major stations, the architects at Duthilleul selected MOSO^® Bamboo UltraDensity flooring for La Défense Grande Arche. The result is a station with a more human and refined character, without compromising on the functional needs of a high-traffic transit hub.

High-performance flooring suited for public transport infrastructure

Bamboo UltraDensity combines the visual warmth of natural materials with the performance levels expected in public transport environments. Tested and proven in major French stations such as Bordeaux Saint-Jean, Lille-Europe and Paris Gare du Nord, the flooring delivers exceptional stability, durability and safety compliance. It also offers a sustainable alternative to both mineral finishes and unsustainably sourced hardwoods, aligning with the project’s architectural and environmental ambitions.

Engineered for extreme performance demands

Accommodating approximately 40,000 passengers per day, RER Station La Défense Grande Arche required a flooring solution capable of withstanding heavy wear, humidity and impact. MOSO^® Bamboo UltraDensity meets these demands effortlessly: an ultra-dense bamboo flooring engineered for resilience in the most challenging public environments. Its warm aesthetic enhances platforms, concourses and staircases, improving passenger comfort and experience. In total, more than 5,000 m² of flooring was installed, delivered on schedule ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games.
