Parc de la Planchette

Just outside Paris, in Levallois-Perret, Parc de la Planchette needed a bigger water feature to help cool the surrounding streets. After some deliberation within the local authority, a nature-inclusive pond was approved, designed by Land’Act, a landscape architecture firm based just a ten-minute walk from the park. The pond filters itself entirely through carefully chosen planting, and a new footbridge and observation platform now bring visitors right up to the water’s edge. That bridge, Streetlife’s Bowie Serpentine, follows the curve of the footpath rather than cutting straight across, so people are guided along the water instead of over it. The footbridge is made of MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme decking boards. Thermal modification and compression give the material durability class 1, along with real hardness and resistance to wear, useful on a structure that sees daily foot traffic right along the shoreline.
