The Barracks

Atop the historic 18th-century warehouse known as The Barracks in Cape Town, a contemporary rooftop sanctuary has emerged. Designed by Gabriël Fagan Architects, the new structure floats above the restored 18th-century building. Within this elevated space, Light House Holistic operates a tranquil retreat featuring sustainable bamboo flooring and decking.

Light House Holistic’s indoor studio features an open layout and a serene atmosphere. Bamboo Elite Premium High Density Caramel flooring was selected for its long, wide boards that visually expand the space and add a touch of luxury. Its exceptional stability and durability make it perfectly suited for yoga sessions and group gatherings. The rooftop terrace is finished with Bamboo N-durance decking, which lends a warm, elegant feel to the outdoor space. The thoughtful integration of bamboo materials reflects the ethos of both the client and the architects: sustainability, wellbeing, and timeless design in harmony with Cape Town’s urban heritage.
