The Red Sea – The St. Regis Red Sea Resort
Extreme luxury coincides with a sustainable resort in which restoration and preservation...
A premier luxury resort and the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Middle East
As of May 2024, Nujuma, a Ritz Carlton Resort, named after the Arabic word “Nujum,” meaning ‘stars’, is the third resort to welcome guests to The Red Sea and features 63 luxurious overwater and beach villas, ranging from one to three bedrooms. Situated on the stunning Ummahat Island, Nujuma offers a paradise-like experience on a pristine strip of sand in the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea; each designed to inspire awe and tranquillity. It goes without saying that MOSO® is incredibly proud to have been chosen to supply the decking for this resort, just as The St Regis Resort also opted for MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking.
Designed by Foster and Partners, Nujuma is the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Middle East, featuring shell-inspired architecture and elegant interiors crafted with natural materials, reflecting sea, sand tones and regional geometric patterns. The interiors showcase Arabic artifacts, traditional ceramics, woven Saudi patterned rugs, and intricate wall hangings celebrating local craftsmanship. Pathways between pavilions and villas are elegantly framed by indigenous plants and MOSO® is proud that, as with The St Regis Resort, MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® has been chosen for the walkway as well as in and around the 63 luxury villas that Nujuma has to offer.
One of only seven in the world, this luxury tourism resort needed to ensure the most sustainable and durable materials were used throughout. Among the traditional ceramics, and many pieces showcasing the local craftsmanship, more than 12,000 m² of MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking (119 mm x 30 mm) was used for the walkway of this prestige resort. As a walkway must be extremely durable and sturdy, instead of the standard 20 mm Bamboo X-treme® Decking boards, 30 mm Bamboo X-treme® was chosen for that extra strength and durability, which has been installed with Bamboo X-treme® Beams to complete the look. Alongside this, more than 13,500 m² of Bambo X-treme® Decking was installed in addition to the walkway for the deck villas and other outdoor areas found throughout the resort.
With the intention of creating villas to cater, there is a choice of overwater and beach villas – all with spacious living areas and private pools that overlook the sea and, using telescopes provided, guests van stargaze from their MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® decks. The overwater villas, connected by an elevated walkway, offer wide sea views and direct access to the water. The beach villas, set on soft white sand, are bright and airy with sea breezes; each villa coming with a personal host to assist with all aspects of the stay.
