With more than 200 million passengers per year, Gare du Nord in Paris is the largest in France and one of the largest in the world. It serves several destinations in France but also in various European countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium… MOSO® Bamboo floors have been selected to create and sign the waiting areas for passengers in the lobby of this emblematic station.
MOSO® Bamboo UltraDensity® flooring meets the requirements of SNCF for Gare du Nord. Its high stability allows it to resist changes in temperature and humidity. Its hardness of more than 9.5 kg/mm² (according to the Brinell test) makes the material resistant to punching, and to the continuous flow of suitcases and delivery carts. Bamboo UtraDensity® flooring is installed in the hall of the Gare du Nord station, at the edge of the platforms from which mainline trains leave and also on the stairs leading to the platforms of the Eurostar landing stages. Its caramel colour gives a natural and warm touch that contrasts with the choice of other materials.
MOSO® Bamboo UltraDensity® parquet has been validated by the FCBA and the CSTB in order to obtain a Technical Approval for application in the highest category of Public Areas such as stations, airports, and shopping malls. After several tests, the Bamboo UltraDensity® solution has obtained the highest results regarding wear and resistance (mechanical properties, punching, stability). By combining the above results with water and chemical resistance, Bamboo UltraDensity® can be installed in buildings which require U4P4E2C2 classification; allowing it to be a better option than any other wood. MOSO® Bamboo UltraDensity® flooring is also an ecological choice, it has a neutral carbon footprint over its entire life cycle.
Bamboo is also installed in other areas of the Gare du Nord station. In the Eurostar landing area, the Bamboo Supreme floor solution was selected. This solid 2-layer parquet floor is a resistant and stable solution for a covered indoor space. In the hall of the Gare Du Nord station, the furniture for the waiting areas is made with MOSO® Bamboo Density® solid panels, allowing passengers to wait for their trains while charging their phones.
