Bamboo X-treme® Decking and Siding meet California fire code requirements for WUI (Wildland Urban Interface) zones. Bamboo X-treme® is a rapidly renewable exterior material, made from thermally treated, compressed bamboo strips. Thanks to the unique Thermo-Density® production process, the material is fire resistant without the use of ecologically unfriendly and expensive fire retardants.
The Bamboo X-treme® Decking boards are rated compliant in accordance with Chapter 7A California Building Code. The bamboo decking system is tested following US standard ASTM E84, reaching Class A Flame Spread. Testing according to European norm EN13501-1 resulted in a Bfl-s1 classification, which is the best class after non-combustible materials. Being so resistant to fire makes Bamboo X-treme® Decking a perfect solution for commercial decking applications or domestic installations like rooftops and porches. With over 25 million square foot decking installed since 2008, the year of introduction, MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking proved to be a durable, sustainable and certified solution. Together with architects, installers and distributors in California, MOSO North America introduces the WUI approved decking and siding as a next step in the introduction of the next generation in sustainable outdoor products.
MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® compressed bamboo exterior decking is approved as a complete system: Nominal 1″x6″ deck boards, 3/16″ edge to edge spacing, fastened to 2 x 6 pressure treated lumber with MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® clip screw fasteners. The Bamboo X-treme® Siding boards are rated compliant in accordance with Chapter 7A California Building Code. The bamboo siding system is tested following US standard ASTM E84, reaching Class A Flame Spread. Testing according to European norm EN13501-1 resulted in a B-s1-d0 classification, which is the best class after non-combustible materials. Without the use of fire retardants MOSO® bamboo wall siding can be safely installed to cover anything from 1- story bungalows up to multiple story apartment- or office buildings. Bamboo X-treme® Siding is not only ecological and fire-safe, but also a low-maintenance product. The siding boards will silver patina over time and do not require lacquer or oil to lengthen the lifetime of the material. Only when the warm dark brown original color is preferred over a natural grey appearance, maintaining with a penetrating hardwood oil will bring back the brown color.
MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® compressed bamboo exterior wall siding and sheathing are nominal 1″ x 6″ boards, 3/16″ edge to edge spacing, that are fastened to battens with MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® clip screw fasteners.
