Freedom in design

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Architectural Elements are our wide 7” Decking and our narrow 4” Decking. Now you can create a design using Bamboo X-treme^® that will differentiate your decks from everyone else. Like the regular 6” Decking, Architectural Elements are available as unfinished decking boards that come with 2 edge grooves for easy installation with the MOSO^® A-symmetric Clip. The different boards can easily combined to create any design you want.

The truly revolutionary natural decking

The decking boards in the Bamboo X-treme^® collection have many characteristics similar to (tropical) hardwood. However, Bamboo X-treme^® boards are made from the quick growing Moso bamboo, a rapidly renewable resource that not only grows incredibly fast (up to 1 meter per day!) but does not result in deforestation after harvesting because the plant does not die when the stems are harvested. Like any hardwood species that is exposed to the weather, Bamboo X-treme^® will turn gray over time, creating a beautiful, natural look similar to weathered hardwood.

Bamboo for use in Wildland Urban Interface zones

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Decking boards have been tested and approved for use in Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) zones. The first and only bamboo decking can therefore be applied in commercial and domestic applications, in all regions in the US. Thanks to the unique Thermo-Density^® production process, the material is fire resistant without the use of ecologically unfriendly and expensive fire retardants.

Decking with highest durability class

Thanks to our unique thermal modification process called Thermo-Density^®, Bamboo X-treme^® achieves the highest durability class possible within the appropriate European norms.* The Thermo-Density^® process modifies and removes sugar molecules which are naturally present in untreated bamboo. With this treatment bamboo is no longer a food source for fungi and micro-organisms. Furthermore, the process increases the density – making the bamboo planks very hard.

More stable than any hardwood

Bamboo X-treme^® Decking is very stable, as a result of thermally modified bamboo strips combined with High Density^® compression. Even after many years after installation, Bamboo X-treme^® boards stay straight, as many reference projects show. The boards are more stable than any tropical hardwood and, therefore, can be produced with an end-matched system. That is why the installation can be done without gaps between the ends of the boards, which not only looks very appealing, but is also much faster and easier to install compared to non-profiled decking boards.

Install decking quickly & economically

With the MOSO^® clips installing the deck is quick and easy. The clips are placed in the grooves at the sides and screwed into the sub beams. With this method it is not necessary to predrill the decking boards.

Packaging for fast and easy installation

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® standard 1×6 decking is packaged for fast and easy installation. Our 6’ boards are packaged 3 pieces to a bundle. The bundles weigh approximately 40 pounds, cover 18 lineal feet of deck and approximately 9 square feet. A pallet of MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® contains 64 bundles and will cover 534 square feet. Our unique packaging provides for maximum coverage from a small package. Advantages of the MOSO^® 6’ 3 piece bundle:

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® 2x2 Deck Tile

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® 2×2 Deck Tile is a solid, Thermally Modified decking tile, made from compressed bamboo strips. A special, heat-treatment process at 392°F (200°C) provides MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® the highest durability class possible in the appropriate European standard (see technical characteristics below) and increases the hardness and stability. These deck tiles are very suitable for commercial or residential rooftop terraces and plazas. Also on uneven surfaces (including cracked concrete patios) these tiles perform very well.

Natural gray or care instructions

Annual cleaning of your MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Decking is recommended. Sweep with a broom or blow off with a leaf blower any loose debris first. If you desire to keep the rich dark brown color, in addition to yearly cleaning we recommend a recoating with Messmer’s Bamboo Finish oil. Annual care and cleaning should be done with a stiff bristle brush.
